The Sacrament of Confirmation
Celebrated in November of a youth’s 11th level, a young person is now fully initiated in the Church.
Immediate preparation for Confirmation is an intensive formation beginning at the end of their 10th level sessions. Young people need to have successfully completed their 10th level year before they are eligible to begin immediate preparations for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Make up work for missed 10th level sessions will be given for completion. A Parent/Candidate meeting and the Confirmation Enrollment Mass begin their immediate prep. Youth attend an overnight retreat, four liturgical experiences focusing on various elements of the Confirmation ritual, and meet with their mentor 3-4 times. As part of the immediate prep we encourage our youth to become a catechist or catechist aide, lector, greeter, music minister, as well as be of service to their greater community. Young people not already in COL faith formation programs who are desiring the sacrament as well as those in 11th and 12th grades in Catholic school should contact Sarah Raville. All candidates for Confirmation need to be registered to attend Confirmation prep. |
